Ben F. Adkins, Sr., of Oklahoma City, peacefully passed away on January 8, 2011, at home with beloved wife, Wanda, and son Ben Jr. at his side. He was born February 13, 1925 to Ben and Eva Adkins in Madill,

OK. He served in the Army during WWII. Ben and Wanda owned Pioneer Furniture in Oklahoma City for 18 years. After retirement in 1981, they loved travelling with the OK Airstream club and their many friends from across the US.

Ben was a beloved member of the Senior department at Council Road Baptist Church. He was a 32 degree Mason and member of Oklahoma City Lodge 36 for more than 57 years.

Ben was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed. He was a fine Christian man, always willing to help anyone in need.

Ben is survived by his wife of 48 years, Wanda; son Ben Jr. and his wife Nancy and grandchildren Kristin and Brian; stepson Russ Davis and his wife Cindy and grandson Justin; Granddaughter Deborah Carpenter and her husband Ken and great grandchildren Grant and Garrett; and Brother-in-law Pat Moore and his wife Dee.

Ben was preceded in death by parents Ben and Eva Adkins; daughter Barbara Chatham; stepson Rod Davis; grandson Johnny Glen Chatham; sister Ruth Whitley; and brother Jack Adkins.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm Wednesday, January 12th at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service in Bethany with Graveside Services following at Yukon Cemetery. Viewing will be held at Mercer-Adams on Tuesday. The family wishes to express its sincere appreciation for the love and affection given to Ben by numerous family, friends and loved ones.
