GROVETOWN, Ga. - Mr. Vance Bridges, 78, husband of Mrs. Joyce M. Bridges, entered into rest Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Doctors Hospital, Augusta, GA. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 17, 2011, in the Chapel of Bellevue Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Dan Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Mr. Bridges was born in Augusta to the late Vance Bridges, Sr. and Irene James Bridges. He was a mechanic and had worked for the Augusta Transit. He was a loving husband, father and hero to his grandchildren as well as the greatest uncle in the world. Survivors include his wife Joyce M. Bridges; his children, Mary B. Landaverde and husband Amador, Grovetown, Timothy Vance Bridges, Grovetown, John Randall Clayton, Augusta, Tonya Hydrick Ryan and husband Bobby, Augusta, and Wanda Faulk, Atlanta; grandchildren, Terry Vance Landaverde, Amador Juan Landaverde, Victoria Marie Landaverde, Heather Renee Bridges, Victoria Faulk, Jennifer Faulk, and Carolyn Faulk; siblings, Dolphus Bridges, Madeline Couch, Frank Bridges, and Lynn Richardson, of Augusta; and best friend John Henry Boyd. Pallbearers will be Mike Hall, Robbie Hall, Joey Hodges, Terry Wood, Tommy Wood, David Wood, Steve McDade and Randy Hall. If so desired, memorials may be made to the Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 to 9 PM at Starling Funeral Home, Hwy. 78, Harlem, Ga.
