Francis Harold Allen, born Oct. 20, 1925 in Mobile, a resident of Daphne since 1980, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009 in Daphne.

He attended Leinkauf Elementary, Barton Academy, and was a 1944 Murphy High graduate. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, being stationed in Burma and India for 17 months.

He attended Spring Hill College and University of Alabama Extension Center. His accounting career included GM & O Railroad; Walter E. Heller & Co.; Johnstone, Adams, May Howard & Hill Law Firm, and Panel Kerr Forester Accounting Firm, from which he retired in 1985.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Elizabeth Smith Allen; parents, Robert Austin Allen and Abigail Lowery Allen; and two sisters, Elizabeth Allen and Mayme Allen Byrd.

Survivors include his wife, Margie H. Whiteside-Allen of Daphne; two sons, Robert H. (Sherri) Allen of Mobile and Carl S. (Leicia) Allen of Daphne; two step-sons, Richard W. (Patti) Whiteside of Waleska, Ga., and Phillip J. (Margaret) Whiteside of Franklin, Tenn.; two step-daughters, Primm W. (Eddie) Scott of Mobile and Karin W. (Carl) Bullard of Shreveport, La.; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Special thanks go to his loyal caregiver, Ardath Robertson, to the Covenant Hospice Staff, and to the Mercy Medical SubAcute 1 Staff.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 545 S. Mobile St., Fairhope, where he was a member.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Trinity Presbyterian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 441, Fairhope AL 36532 or the charity of your choice.
