Amanda A. Byrd was born December 18, 1848, in Monroe County m Mississippi, or Detroit, Marion County, Alabama. It was thought for a long time that part of Mississippi was in Alabama, but when they resurveyed, they found out it was indeed in Monroe County, Mississippi.

Amanda died at about 15 years of age and was probably buried in the old George Stanford Cemetery which was in front of the old Byrd home in Splunge, Monroe County, Mississippi. A farmer had plowed and pushed dirt over onto the cemetery which covered up several tombstones.(GMT)
