Viola Elisabeth Esther Amendt, the daughter of Nicholas and Mary Tigges Amendt was born on January 31, 1906 in Spring Township, Cherokee County, Iowa. She received her education in the country school near her childhood home. She spent her early years on the family farm until 1936 when she moved to Spencer.
It was here she was engaged as a domestic housekeeper and also as a waitress until her retirement.
She passed away on Nov. 4, 1985 at her home in Spencer, having reached the age of 79 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers: Adolph, William, Alfred and Lou; two sisters, Minnie and Lydia.
Left to cherish her memory are one sister in law, Mrs. Robert Donahoo, Sr. of Peterson; many nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and friends.
