FARMER KICKED TO DEATH NEAR MCHENRY
On Monday evening word was received that E. M. Vining, well known and highly respected resident, had been found dead at his home five miles southwest of town. On Tuesday afternoon Ellis Willoughby, acting as coroner,went out to the place, and from his investigations, the conclusion was reached he had been driving loose horses into the barn and in some manner one of them had kicked him in the head, probably causing instant death.
The last seen of him alive was on Monday morning about 8 O'clock. The body was found sometime in the afternoon, lying near the stable door with a mark as from a hoof just below the right temple and the neck broken. There was a piece of tug grasped in the hand.
Deceased leaves 6 children to mourn his death. David, Paul, Mrs. W. H. Murray, and Mrs. Hans Werner, as well known here, and Mrs. Thompson who lives near Rogers, and a son in Cass County.
The remains, accompanied by son, David,were shipped to the old home at Lake City, Minnesota, yesterday for internment.
