I remember my grandmother and her sisters telling about their g-grandmother's long journey (MARY Todd). They said she was on a mountain and all she had to do was reach up in the clouds to wash her hands!
Her tombstone says just Mary Todd (no date). Her dau., Melvina is buried beside her. My grandmother, Roxie Jordan Hucks (grandaughter of Ben F.Todd) showed it to me once. She use to talk about her g-grandmama Todd. Grandma Roxie said she smoked a clay pipe. Her daughter Melvina lived with her. Melvina could not walk & was in a homemade wheel chair (a straight chair with wheels under each leg). She lived on a pension from the her late husband Dennis. My grandmother always thought Dennis was killed in the CW way off somewhere.
Roxie said they use to go visit her (Mary) quite often. She said the last time they at with her she served butterbeans & rice cooked together, along with other dishes too. Apparently she was a great cook!
(This information came from Keith Edwards-3rd Great-grandson.

Her father was Richard of 1802 & Elizabeth Todd, she and Dennis were 1st cousins.

Wife of Dennis Todd 1836-1865 (buried at Cherry Hill Cem. near Loris).

Siblings of Mary Jane Todd Todd (according to 1850 census of Horry, SC). Henry, John, James, Elizabeth, Silas, Benjamin, Charlotte, Solomon, Sarah.

Children: Benjamin Franklin Todd, Dennis Todd, Melvina Todd.

Grandmother of Mattie Jane Todd Jordan (dau. of B.F. & Annie Larrimore Todd)
