Daughter of Joseph Pinkney Elkins b. 1827, and Letha Ann Crowley, b. 1830. Wife of George Washington Smith, b, 1849 Locust Grove GA. Mother of Nannie Lea, Parks Matherson, William Lemuel, George Spencer, Mary Cornelia, Joseph Pinkney SMith, Althea Lorena, James Arthur, Henry Jackson and Crowley Alphus Smith. My maternal great-great grandmother. First grave in Reed Cemetery. The land for Reed Cemetery was donated by her son, Rev.Parks Matherson Smith. Mary's husband George Washington Smith was postmaster at Reed and a farmer as well. He donated land for the Reed Missionary Baptist Church. The couple were first pioneers of Reed, Greer Co OK. This portrait hangs in the Old Greer County Museum as such.
