English Colonial Governor of New York (1701, 1709, 1719). Known as “Quider” to he neighboring Iroquois Tribes (this was the closest they could come to “Peter”), Colonel Peter (also Pieter) took each of the five Iroquois Sachems to London (one Sachem died en route) in 1709 in an effort to impress them with the wealth and power of England. They all met with Queen Anne who had them sit for portraits. Peter Schuyler was the first Mayor of Al-bany after Albany became a city under the Dongan Charter in 1686.Married Engeltie (Van Schaick) in 1681 and had 4 children: Margarita (b 11/1682); Phillip (b 1684); Anna (b1686); and Gertrude (b 1689). She died about 1689.

He then married Maria (Van Rensselaer) 14 Sep 1691 in Albany, NY (my line). They had 5 children: Maria (b 1692); Geertruy Schuyler (b 1694); Phllippus (cir 1696-2/16/1758); Peter (my line) (b 1698); and Jeremiah (1698-1753).
