Edward J. (Swede) Rugowski, 85, of 1018 S. 24th Street, Manitowoc, died Sunday,
April 12, 1987 at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services will
be 9:30 am Wednesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10 am at St. Mary Catholic
Church, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Harold
Berryman and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Rugowski was born October 16, 1901 at Manitowoc, son of the late Edward J.
and Catherine Okonski Rugowski Sr. He married the former Leona Rosinsky on June 25,
1923 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The couple celebrated their Golden
Wedding Anniversary in 1973.She preceded him in death on August 22, 1974. Mr.
Rugowski was employed over 50 years at Mirro Company, Manitowoc, retiring in 1966.
Swede was well known for his baseball ability both as a player and umpire. After
retirement he enjoyed fishing on the shores and piers of Lake Michigan.
Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and William Holschbach,
Phylis and Orville Kodet, Luanne and Robert Duveneck and Carole and Howard Awe,
all of Manitowoc; 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in
death by a son, Kenneth, a son-in-law, Marvin Mushel, two grandchildren, brothers
and sisters.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, 4 pm to 9 pm Tuesday where a prayer service
will be at 7:30 pm by Deacon Ed Bouchner.
