Other records show Henry was born in 1834 and died in 1919. This needs to be checked. Henry Alexander Rothrock was the youngest of five known children of Peter Rothrock (1798-1882) and Jacobina Reich Rothrock (1798-1855) who married on 10 Apr 1823 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina. Peter was a farmer and the family lived in the vicinity of the Moravian community of Friedberg, on the border of Stokes and Davidson (now Forsyth and Davidson) Counties, North Carolina. On 03 Oct 1830 the family set out to move to the Moravian community of Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana.

Henry was a life-long blacksmith. He married Margaret (went by Maggie) Isabella Leech (1839-1899) on 22 Jan 1861 at Flat Rock, Shelby County, Indiana. Soon after their marriage, the Civil War began and Henry enlisted as a Private in Company I, 33rd Indiana Regiment on 23 Aug 1861 at Indianapolis, Indiana. Henry mustered out on 19 Sep 1864 at Atlanta, Georgia.

Henry and Maggie were the parents of seven known children, five boys and two girls. Five of the seven children lived to maturity. The children were namely:

1. Edgar Hugh Rothrock (1861-young)
2. James Walter Rothrock (1865-1933)
3. Matilda (Mattie) Virginia Rothrock Hutton (1867-1889)
4. Jessie L. Rothrock Metcalf Daniels (1870-1953)
5. Warren Rothrock (1873-1875)
6. Ralph Rutherford Rothrock (1876-1877)
7. Ray Huston Rothrock (1879-1955)

In 1870 and 1880 the family was living at Columbus, Bartholomew County, Indiana. In 1900 the widower Henry was living at Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana. Henry and Maggie's grand-daughter, Florence L. Metcalf (1892-1923) (daughter of Jessie L. Rothrock Metcalf Daniels) is buried with them.
