Donna Christine "Christy" (Nowell) Rogers, of Hitchita, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, at her home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Garrett-Smith Chapel. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery under the direction of Garrett-Smith Funeral Home of Checotah.

Born May 8, 1970, in Galveston, Texas, she was the daughter of Doug and Charlene Jones Nowell. She moved with her family to Crowder, where she graduated from Crowder High School in 1988.

She attended Conners State College graduating in 1990. She married Bill Rogers on June 29, 1990, in Checotah. She attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, graduating with her B.A. in elementary education, cum laude, 2005.

Upon graduation, she taught in Muskogee at the Sadler Arts Academy for a short period of time.

She was active in the Children's Ministry and taught Sunday School at Jubilee Christian Center in Okmulgee.

Survivors include her husband, Bill, of the home; their daughters, Jessica Lynn, Brittany Michelle and Mary Elizabeth, all of the home; her parents, Doug and Charlene Nowell, of Hitchita.

Also, a sister and brother-in-law, Tracy and James Christenberry, Anchorage, Alaska; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dennis and Mary Rogers, of Hitchita.

And, aunts, Joyce Davis, Tommy Griffin, Donna Littlejohn and Gracie Pearl Mahoney; uncles, Jim Nowell, Gary Cooley and David Cooley, and numerous cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Griffin, Josh Cooley, Gary Cooley, David Cooley, Russ Mahoney and Mark Mahoney.

She was preceded in death by her uncle, Bill Nowell, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
