Grew up in Gibbon, graduated from Gibbon High School in 1944.

Military: U.S. Army, May 26, 1945-Jan 1, 1947
Returned to Gibbon, began farming; attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Married: Sept. 1, 1956, to Marie Lowell in Gibbon; she died April 17, 1999.

Lived in Shelton and Grand Island; worked for the U.S. Post Office; retired in January 1996 after 33 years of service.

Married: Nov. 17, 2001, to Lloydene Switzer in Grand Island; lived in Grand Island; moved to Loup City in 2004
Activities: loved spending time with his children and grandchildren; was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing, traveling and metal detecting; member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include wife; sons, Orville of Bay Town, Texas, and James of Phillips; daughters, Pam Cooper and Myra Versaw, both of Grand Island, and Laurie Earnest of Phillips; brothers, Lenard of Kearney, John of Newnan, Ga., and Donald of Funk; sister, Gloria Bartak of Broken Bow; stepsons, Patrick Timmerman of Ocean Side, Calif., and Michael Timmerman of Alda; stepdaughters, Bunny Wampole of Maxwell, Patsy Balderas of Garden City, Kan., Susan Garza of Austin, Texas, and Dawn Willey of Grand Island; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; also daughter-in-law, Michelle Pedersen of Phillips; sons-in-law, Mike Cooper and Duane Versaw, both of Grand Island, and Steve Earnest of Phillips; stepdaughters-in-law, Nancy Timmerman of Ocean Side and Jeanette Timmerman of Alda; stepsons-in-law, Ralph Wampole of Maxwell, Ambrosio Balderas of Garden City, Dave Garza of Austin and Brian Willey of Grand Island; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Pedersen of Kearney, LaVonne Pedersen of Newnan and Gerri Pedersen of Funk.

Was preceded in death by his first wife; parents, a brother and a brother-in-law.
