Bert B. Nuckles died at the Ellensburg General Hospital Sunday, February 24 at the age of 78. In failing health for some time, he had been moved to the General from Bernath's Nursing Home three hours prior to his death.

Nuckles was born November 24, 1885 at Miller, SD, and came to Ellensburg from Middleton, MO in 1909. He married Grace Cahoon in Ellensburg, November 1, 1914. When he arrived here he purchased a home at 1307 Brook Lane and there he lived the remainder of his life. He was a carpenter by trade and a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife at the family home, two sons, Don and Bert Nuckles Jr., both of Ellensburg; five daughters, Mrs. Dorothy E. Phillips of Puyallup, Mrs. Fern Smith, Redwood City, California, Mrs. Charlotte Smelcer of Walla Walla and Mrs. Marilyn Thayer and Mrs. Dixie Johnson, both of Ellensburg. Also surviving are 29 grandchildren, a brother, Charles Nuckles of Los Angeles and three sisters, Mrs. Stella Hoyer of Huntington, WV; Mrs. Audrey Gunderson of Tarzana, California; and Grace Nuckles of Los Angeles.

Funeral services for Nuckles will be held Thursday, February 28 at 2 p.m. in the Evenson Chapel with Rev. Paul Nance officiating. Interment will be in High Valley Memorial Gardens.
