Angela Maria Suozzo (or Suazzo or Suazza) was born to parents, Antonio Suozzo and Filomena (Florence) Volpe, in Brooklyn, NY. She was one of at least 5 children.

Angela and Clarence had 6 children of their own. Sadly, only two would live to adulthood. Their twin sons, John R. and Joseph A, died at 3 1/2 months old after ingesting bad formula or having a bad reaction to it. Their son, Clarence, died at 11 months old. And their son, Bertram died at around 5 1/2 years old when he was in a tent in the backyard in Long Branch, NJ, and a kerosene lantern was knocked over and little Bertram died of severe burns. Bertram's death certificate says he was buried at Mount Carmel Cemetery (although the cemetery couldn't confirm that) and the youngest brothers are buried at St. John's Cemetery with other relatives.

According to family lore, Angela was a nurse during WWI and was planning to become a nun when she met her patient and future husband, Clarence Lee.
