" Judge S. W. LEACH DIES FROM WOUND ~ Prominent Resident of Yazoo and Holmes Found Fatally Hurt at Home ~ PICKENS, April 24 ~~Judge S. W. Leach, 84 year old prominent farmer and justice of this community, was found shot to death at his country home near here by members of the family. Judge Leach was shot through the head with a .38 caliber pistol. He had been in ill health for some time and had recently had a cataract removed from his eye. Attending physicians are said to have offered him no relief from the handicap. Judge Leach had been a resident of Mississippi during his entire life and had may friends in Yazoo and Holmes counties as well as throughout the state. He is survived by three sons; Emmett Leach of Benton; Tom Leach of Centralia, IL. Joel Allen Leach of Centralia. Three daughters, Miss Sally Leach of Benton. Mrs. Ruby Leach Day of Chicago, IL. Mrs. Fisher of Benton.

He was the third child of Joel E Leach b. TN 1820-1869 and Frances Chenault b. AL 1822-1881. He married Miss Margaret "Maggie" Drennan, of South Carolina, in Attala county in 1871. She preceded him in death in 1919. Together they had ten children. Jimmie Frank 1872-1891, Sarah 1876-1971, Clifford 1879, Mary 1881, Thomas 1883, Ruby 1885, Joel Allen 1889, Ada W 1891, Thadius 1893 and Hallie Catherine 1896.
