A Serious Loss to Uniontown, Peter Jacobs, The Brewer, Died Thursday Afternoon at His Residence. Uniontown, Wash., May 3. - Peter Jacobs, whose illness, caused by "anti-fat pills," was reported in Wednesday's Spokesman-Review, died at his residence in this town yesterday at about 4:30 in the afternoon. His condition was perceptibly improved and hopes were entertained of his speedy recovery to his former good health, but in the evening he sank to his former state and when, yesterday morning, Dr. Schaaf of Lewiston, came up to attend to his patient, be gave up all hopes of Mr. Jacobs' recovery. The sick man sank rapidly all day, and in the afternoon passed peacefully away. His sufferings had been great at times, though only ill for a few days. Mr. Jacobs was one of the most prominent and public spirited citizens of this little burgh. Born in Minnesota 37 years ago next month, he came with his father's family to the far-famed Palouse country in 1877, where he has been a resident. Most of this time he has been engaged in brewing, having built up a large business in that line. Three years ago he erected a large two-story brick structure, the finest in town, using it for the triple purposes of brewery, saloon and opera house. He was a member of the city council for two terms. He leaves a wife but no children. The day before he died, he made his will, leaving all his property to his wife. Mr. Jacobs came of a large family, and leaves several brothers and sisters in Uniontown to mourn his loss, besides a large circle of friends and relatives in Lewiston. The funeral occurs Saturday from St. Boniface's Catholic church, of which Mr. Jacobs was a member.
