Roy Joe Huddleston, 81, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday
morning, February 5th, 2008 surrounded by his loving family at his home in
rural Texhoma, Oklahoma.
The son of Roy and Helen Pierce Huddleston, he was born on
August 30th, 1926 in Guymon, Oklahoma.
Roy Joe was united in marriage to Nadine Shubert in Clayton, New
Mexico on November 30th, 1948. They have been lifelong residents of the
James Community.
Roy Joe was a member of the James Church of God until the church
no longer held services. At the time of his death he was a member of the
Elkhart Church of God.
Family was always important to Roy Joe. He adored his children,
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved living on the ranch, being
outdoors and working with his horses and cattle. He was an avid hunter and
traveled many different places to go hunting with family and friends. Roy
Joe was always ready for a motorcycle ride whether it was a short trip in
the Panhandle or an extended ride to the Canadian border. He was a lifetime
member of the National Rifle Association, American Quarter Horse
Association, and the American Trap-Shooting Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Helen Huddleston and his first wife, Jaunita Mildred Wright Huddleston, one Son-in-law, William Glen " Bill " Evans, and one Infant Grandaughter
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Nadine Huddleston; two
sons, Donnie Huddleston and wife, Valerie of rural Texhoma, and Bill
Huddleston also of rural Texhoma; three daughters, Cathy Evans of Austin,
Texas, Shirley Clark and husband, Sonny of Amarillo, Texas, and Sandi
Dunstan and husband, David also of Amarillo, Texas; one sister, Zella
(Huddleston) Shubert of Dexter, Kansas; 15 grandchildren, Angie (Evans)
Gildea, Misty (Evans) Inman, Shawn Evans, Jarod Huddleston, Alan Huddleston,
Lance Huddleston, Kyle Clark, Ambra Clark, Teal Clark, Ashley Elliott, Heidi
Elliott, Brianne Dunstan, Nanine (Huddleston) Heaton, Candice (Heimsoth)
Cullop, and Chris Heimsoth; 7 great grandchildren, Tucker Heaton, Brie
Heaton, Nathan Inman, Peyton Gildea, Tripp Huddleston, Helena Heimsoth, and
Haley Heimsoth, as well as many cousins, and numerous friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday morning, February 8th,
2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the Elkhart Church of God in Elkhart, Kansas with Rev.
Gary Murrell pastor and Rev. Mark Brown of Bertha, Minnesota officiating.
Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Texhoma Cemetery,
Texhoma, Texas. Services are under the direction of the Bunch - Roberts
Funeral Home of Guymon.
The Huddleston family suggests memorials be given to the Texhoma
Cemetery Fund, Guymon Memorial Hospital Hospice or the Elkhart Church of God
Building Fund. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral
Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.
