Frederick John Hoover, son of Harry Herbert Hoover and Bessie Lorraine (Powell) Hoover was born November 30, 1930 in Murray, Iowa and passed from this life August 30, 2011 at Westbridge Care Center in Winterset, Iowa at 80 years of age.

Fred attended school in Osceola. He served in the US Army from 1952 - 1954 where he was a paratrooper. He was united in marriage to Donna Catharine Patterson on August 1, 1953 at Columbus, Georgia.

Fred was a mechanic at Firestone Tire & Rubber Company retiring after over 40 years of service. He was a member of St. Charles Lodge; Za Ga Zig Shrine in Altoona, Cummings American Legion; United Rubber workers local 310 and a former Truro Lions Club member. He enjoyed the Iowa State Fair and camped there for many years. He had a great interest in older machinery and enjoyed tractor pulls and the Old Thrashers Convention.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Wayne in infancy; and wife, Donna.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Lynne (Thomas) Walker of St. Charles and Del Hoover of Bondurant; grandsons, Chad Walker of Osceola and Clinton (Crystal) Walker of New Virginia; great grandchildren, Taylor and Chyanna, Matt, Gregg, Tyler and Colton; brother, Dwain Hoover of Cincinnati, Iowa; other relatives and many friends.
