She had no way home so they put her in first grade to see how she did and stayed in first grade all year.
During her school years, she helped on the farm, milking cows every morning and night.
She graduated Livermore grammar school in 1928 and Livermore High School in 1932.
After high school, she worked around the farm and then worked in the bank.
She married Edward Nielsen of Pleasanton in 1940 and had two sons Alan & Robert.
In 1941, she was Matron of Semper Fidelis Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in Livermore.
She was divorced from Ed in 1952.

She and Regner hosted several family gatherings especially on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
They farmed the on Hansen Ranch until October of 1981 at which time Regner & Elsa retired, and to a mobile home park in Modesto.
During retirement, they would love to go places, they loved to visit their grandchildren, they went to Regner's military unit's reunions on a regular basis.
Elsa loved to do cross stiching and spent time doing that hobby and then framing the results and had them hanging on her walls.
Regner missed farming as he would walk to the farm across the road from there mobile home park and visit the cows and other animals.
Sometime in late 1996, Regner had a lot of heart problems and was moved to a convalescent hospital in Modesto.
It all caught up with him on Aug 21, 1998 when he passed away.
Elsa continued to live in Modesto, she would fly up to Fruitland Washington to see her grandchildren on a regular basis.
In March of 2001, while visiting her son she fell and broke her hip.
In May of 2001 she decided that she wanted to live there, and a mobile home was purchased and installed next to her son.
Living in the country she would spend her time walking, and playing solitaire, during the snow season she would push the snow off of her porch.
In Stevens County they allowed you to burn your garbage so she would do that, put things in her barrel and light it and let it burn.
In 2002 her grandson was diagnosed with lekumia, which he has recovered from.
In 2003 she participated in the Cancer Relay for Life, a nationwide activity by walking over 2 miles. She won a prize for being the oldest person to walk.
On Memorial day weekend of 2004, she had a massive stroke and passed away on June 3 at Deconess Hospital in Spokane, WA. On August 13, 2004 a Celebration of Life was held at the Golf Course in Livermore for both Elsa & Regner.
