JOHN WILLIAM DeMOSS, 70, died at his home, 1407 Lowry street, Stillwater, OK., Sunday afternoon, March 16, 1930, after an illness of more than a year. The decedent was born March 30, 1860, and moved to Elm Grove township from Missouri in 1899 and continued his residence there until 1927 when he moved to Stillwater with his family.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Louisa May (Elwood) DeMoss and four children, who are Fred William, of Stillwater; Mrs. Mary Mae Hinkle, LaVerne, Calif.; Mrs. Ethel Wyatt, Salem, Oregon and Clark Otto, of Stillwater. A sister, Mrs. Bell Wright of St. Joseph, Mo., three brothers, J.F. DeMoss, G.B. DeMoss and Orin, and five grandchildren.

Heavy rains Monday night prevented the Rev. Virtes Williams of Tahlequah, from coming to Stillwater to preach the funeral sermon of John William DeMoss, long-time Stillwater resident who died March 16. In the absence of Rev. Mr. Williams, the Rev. Virgil G. Nalley, pastor of the First Christian church here, was to be in charge of the service at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon.

John W. DeMoss was born in Lewis county, Missouri, in 1860, the family moving to Indiana the following year. In 1881 the DeMoss family returned to Missouri, living in Shelby county until coming to Oklahoma in 1890. He was married in Shelby County, Missouri on November 26,1885.
