ETHEL S. YOUNG
Mrs. Elmer B. Young, 78, 1103 Nagle, Ave., Manitowoc, wife of a retired local
principal, died Tuesday at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc, after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul Methodist Church,
Manitowoc. The Rev. Krist Caune will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen
Cemetery.
Mrs. Young, the former Ethel Sanderson, was born March 1, 1888, at Osceola, Wis.,
daughter of the late Rev. Edward and Estelle Ballard Sanderson. She lived at
River Falls, Wis., where she attended the state normal school. She was married
to Mr. Young April 8, 1910, at St. Paul, Minn., and the couple came to Manitowoc
in 1920. Mr. Young had been principal of Roosevelt Elementary School from 1920-
24 and Washington Junior High School until his retirement in 1953. She was a
member of the Women's Society of Christian Service.
She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Noble (Lonaverne) Anderson
and Mrs. Fred (Margery) Schuler, of Manitowoc, a brother, Chester B. Sanderson,
of Glendale, Calif., a sister, Mrs. Reynold Olson of Los Angeles, two grandsons,
(private), and nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 3 p.m.
Wednesday until 1 p.m. Thursday when the casket will be removed to church where
the body will lie in state until time of services. Memorials may be given to
St. Paul Church.
