Minnie B. Britton, 85, of Springfield, died 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, at her home. She was born June 3, 1923, in Marion, the daughter of Powell and Vinnie Brown Winstead. She married Ernest M. Britton on Aug. 29, 1942, and he survives.

She is also survived by one daughter, Kaye (husband, Jim) Bruner of Jacksonville; one son, Jim (wife, Carole) Britton of Springfield; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Winstead of Springfield, Tenn.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by one brother, Don Winstead; and one sister, Muriel Pinnow.

She was a resident of Springfield since 1952, Evansville, Ind., seven years prior, including 10 years in Lincoln. She worked at Dickey John Corporation, 10 years as the co-owner of Angelo's Italian Restaurant in Lincoln. She was also a homemaker the majority of her life. She was a member of Westside Christian Church and she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and a compassionate friend.

Services were entrusted to Staab Funeral Home of Springfield, Illinois.
