OBITUARY :
ARMANTHA B. 'MACE' WIERMAN BENCHOFF, 78, of Quincy United Methodist Home, Quincy, Pa., formerly of Sabillasville, Md., died Friday, Feb. 2, at Quincy United Methodist Home.

Born March 18, 1917 in Thurmont, Md., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Nora Miller Wierman. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter B. Benchoff, Jr., in 1990.

She was a member of St John's United Church of Christ, Sabillasville, where she taught children's Sunday School for a number of years, was an Elder and was a member of the Church Consistory. She was also a past president of the church's Ladies Guild, serving as president for 29 years. She was a member of the national AARP.

She was employed in the laundry department of the Maryland State Sanatorium (Victor Cullen), and later owned and operated Log Cabin Inn, Sabillasville. She then owned and operated a grocery store at the same location as the Inn. Prior to retiring in 1987, she assisted her husband in the family's truck hauling business

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Gray Prince of Frederick, Md.; one son, Richard M. Benchoff of Cascade, Md., eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Lelia P. Fogle and Vada E. Waterfield, both of Waynesboro, Clara E. Bentzel of Cascade, Anna V. Happel of Baltimore, Md., and Helen M. Lantz of Sabillasville.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 6, at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with the Rev. Douglas L. Griffin officiating. Interment will be in Harbaugh Church Cemetery, Rouzerville.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, Feb 5, at the funeral home.
