Carol J. Messer, 75, died on Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Hospice Care Center in Copley. She was born Oct. 20, 1933 in Barberton to Howard and Myrtle Wellons.

Carol worked for PPG Industries in accounting until retiring in 1995 and at one time was a strong member of the Salvation Army. It brought her great joy organizing the Gaugler Family Reunions at Columbia Woods and she was known for being the great communicator of our family. Carol was deeply loved and admired by all her family members and was much appreciated for what she did for us. She will be sadly missed by all. "Thank you mom for being the glue of our family."

Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Roy. She is survived by daughters, Karen (Mickey) Dressel and Linda Techau; brothers, Howard Wellons of Toledo, and Robert (Betty) Wellons of Allentown, Pennsylvania; sister, Dorothy Messer of Youngstown; grandchildren, Erik Dressel, Christopher and Lisa Techau; and great grandson, Noah.

Calling hours were yesterday at the Bacher Funeral Home, 3250 Greenwich Road. Funeral services are today at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Bob Combs officiating. Interment Greenlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers donation may be made to Visting Nurse Service and Hospice 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH 44333 in memory of Carol.
