Born in Clyde, North Carolina, Mr. Messer had lived in the Akron and Barberton areas for 40 years. He was a sales manager and salesman with various auto dealerships. Mr. Messer was a member of AA, AARP, Transplant Recipient International Organization and Mended Hearts. He attended the Cathedral of Tomorrow.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carol; two daughters and their husbands; three grandchildren; a brother, Walker Messer; and sisters, Edith Gaddy and Margaret Bartinikas, both of Clyde, N.C.
Campfield-Hickman Funeral Home to hold services on Monday at 1 p.m. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
