DAVENPORT - Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia D."Ginnie" Mudd, 78, will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2005, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home with a prayer service offered at 7 p.m. Ginnie died Wednesday, December 21, 2005, at her home in Davenport after a brief illness.
Virginia D. Welch was born March 9, 1927, the daughter of Leland and Bertha (Eggerstedt) Welch in Green Island, Iowa. She was united in marriage to James E. Mudd on September 25, 1948.
Ginnie was an active parishioner at St. Mary's and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She had worked as a Registered Nurse, at the former Mercy Hospital, retiring in 1987 after 25 years of service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to either the Friendly House Food Pantry or Project Aide.
Survivors include her husband, James Sr., and their children, a daughter, Mary (Mrs. Eric) Haut, Davenport, and sons, Gerard "Jerry" (Yvonne) Mudd, Rockford, Ill., and Andrew Mudd, Davenport; a daughter-in-law, Marilee Mudd, Ottawa, Ill.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Welch, Maquoketa, Iowa; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
