James Elmer Mudd was born January 9, 1920, in Davenport, a son of Fred and Hattie (Donovan) Mudd. He proudly served our country during WWII in the U.S. Army. He was united in marriage to Virginia D."Ginnie" Welch, on September 25, 1948. She preceded him in death December 21, 2005.
Jim had worked 28 years at Peter Pan Bakery and 18 years at Caterpillar before retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church and the American Legion.
Survivors include his children, a daughter, Mary (Mrs. Eric) Haut, Davenport, and sons, Gerard "Jerry" (Yvonne) Mudd, Rockford, Ill., and Andrew Mudd, Davenport; a daughter-in-law, Marilee Mudd, Marseilles, Ill.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ginnie and a son, James E. Mudd Jr., December 18, 2004, and two brothers, Charles and Norman.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
