Rose Marie Wigen, age 84, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Friday, March 14, 2014 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.
Rosie was born on June 3, 1929 at her family residence in Manitowoc to the late Paul and Sophie Grone Leschig. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1947. Rosie completed her education by obtaining her college Associate Degree in Milwaukee. In 1954, Rosie married Walter Wigen at English Lake Resort. Walter preceded her in death in February of 1970. Rosie had worked for Imperial Eastman as a secretary and as a cook for the Christian Brothers at Roncalli High School. She was musically inclined and was able to play music by ear at her organ. Rosie enjoyed spending her time flower gardening, cooking, going to Late's BBQ and Bud Willman's, and she made an excellent German potato salad. Rose was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manitowoc.
Survivors include Rosie's son, Knute Wigen, Manitowoc; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Sophie Leschig; husband: Walter; and two brothers: Walter and Paul.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Rev. Brian Staude will officiate with burial to take place at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com
