RUTH TREFZ

Mrs. William A. (Ruth M.) Trefz, 81, formerly of 734 S. 27th St., Manitowoc, died Thursday morning, Oct. 18, at St. Mary Home, following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Rev. Larry Ellenberger will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Trefz was born July 4, 1903, at Manitowoc, daughter of the late Louis and Hulda Kappelman Medaus. She grew up and was educated in Manitowoc, graduating from Manitowoc High School in 1921. She married Herbert A. Umnus on August 12, 1924, at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1952. She then married William A. Trefz on Oct. 4, 1956, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. Mrs. Trefz was a member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aide of the church, the Manitowoc Senior Citizens, A.A.R.P., and the Manitowoc Homemakers.
Survivors include her husband, William; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald H. and Arlene M. Umnus of Manitowoc; a daughter, Mrs. Helen L. Shelffo of Westminster, Colorado; two stepsons and step-daughter in-law, Ralph and Betty Trefz of Manitowoc and Robert Trefz of Madison; four grandchildren, Greg, Lee, Kent, and Beth Umnus of Manitowoc; six step-granchildren; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Paul Umnus of Manitowoc and a nephew, Allan Umnus and family of Manitowoc. She was preceded in death by an infant son, John.
Friends may call at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, after 11 a.m. Saturday until the time of services. There will be no Friday evening visitation. Memorials may be made to Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church or Manitowoc Lutheran High School. Urbanek and Schlei Pfeffer and Reinbold Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is serving the family.
