Herbert A. Umnus, 35, of ____ South 13th Street, Manitowoc, died unexpectedly
of a heart attack late Sunday afternoon at the cottage of his brother, Paul,
at Riley's Point, Door County.
The two brothers had been fishing during the day and had returned to the cottage
for lunch before returning to Manitowoc when Herbert Umnus was stricken.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First German Evangelical
Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. L. H. Koeninger will officiate and burial
will be in Evergreen cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Umnus was born in Manitowoc in 1897, son of Mr. aned Mrs. Gustave Umnus. In
1924 he married Miss Ruth Medaus.
He was employed as an electrician at the Aluminum Goods Company.
He was active in music circles playing in orchestras in the city and county and
was an honorary member of the Manitowoc Musicians association.
He was also a member of the Men's club of the Lutheran congregation and president
of the Amateur Moviemakers Club of Manitowoc.
Survivors are his wife, a son, (private) and daughter, (private); father, Gustave
of Manitowoc; two brothers, Hugo and Paul of Manitowoc.
Friends may call at the Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 4 p.m.
Tuesday. The casket will be moved to the church at 10 a.m. Wednesday to lie in
state until the hour of services.
