Sarah Suttles was born to John and Elizabeth Manor Suttles on December 25, 1813, in Elbert County, Georgia. Sarah was the first of five children and her siblings are: Isaac T., William B., Nancy E., and Mary Ann Keziah Suttles.

On February 25, 1830, Sarah married John Arthur Caddell in Bibb County, Alabama. Between 1840 and 1850, John, Sarah and their eight children moved to Texas. Together, Sarah and John had eight children and they were: John G., William, Maryann Elizabeth, Joseph Brooks, Nancy Evalyn Evalina, Benjamin, Lurany "Lulu", and Sarah Jane Caddell. In 1831, Sarah and John have to bury their baby boy, John G. Caddell.

In 1852, Sarah has to bury her husband of 22 years in Rusk, Cherokee County, Texas. In 1865, Sarah has to bury her 32 year old son, William Caddell. In 1870 the family lived in Goliad County, Texas, and in 1880 Sarah is living in Hays County.

At the age of 85 years old, on May 7, 1899, in Eckert, Gillespie County, Texas Sarah Suttles Caddell passes away.
