Wallace Findlay Stock 77, well known Star Valley citizen pioneer died Thursday morning at his home in Afton after a long illness. He had suffered with cancer and a weak heart.
Funeral services will be held Sunday Aug 18, at 2 p.m. in the Afton Second-Third Ward Chapel, under the direction of the Third Ward Bishopric. Burial will be in the Afton Cemetery, with the Schwab Mortuary in charge.
The body will be at the home of Mr and Mrs A.W, Stock after 3 p.m. Saturday and until noon Sunday, where friends may call.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Aug 18 in the Afton Second-Third Ward Chapel for Wallace Findlay Stock, 77, who died August 15 at his home in Afton after a long illness.
Counselor Lynn M. Nield of the Third ward Bishopric was in charge.
He was born April 13, 1880 at Fish Haven, Idaho a son of Robert Wallace Stock and Annie Isabel Findlay Stock. He lived his early life at Fish Haven. He married Emma Hildt in 1902 and later in 1909 this union was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. He and his bride moved to Star Valley in 1902 where he spent most of his married life as a rancher. He operated a passenger stage line from Afton to Montpelier when it was necessary to use horses during the mud and snow seasons. Cars were used when roads would permit during the summer months.
His wife died in January, 1932. Six years later on Sept 22, 1938 he married Melba Coy Fisher, who survives him.
:Well" as he was known to his friends was greatly interested in sports activities and especially liked good race horses, hunting and fishing. He was active in church work a good part of his life, did much work in the Boy Scout program. He was kind and sociable and had many friends.
He is survived by his widow, Melba Fisher Stock; the following sons and daughters; Autna Wallace Stock, Afton; Carl stock, Layton, Utah; Mrs R.E. Pennock, Fort Collins, Colo; and Paul M. Stock Afton. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; two brothers Harold J. Stock, Logan, Utah; Lawrence R. Stock, Salt Lake and a sister Mrs Dan (Maud) Nield Hyrum, Utah. One brother and one sister preceded him in death. Two stepdaughters, Mrs Leona Gragg Salt Lake City, and Mrs Helen Harrison, Logan, also survive him.
