On last Monday morning just as she was getting up, Mrs Hyrum Michaelson passed away to that Great Beyond, death being due to heart failure. Seldom has it been our duty to record so sudden a death. A dark gloom spread over the whole community when it was whispered from one to another about her departure, that she was gone.
Mrs Michaelson was the daughter of one of Afton's most estimable families. Mr and Mrs. R.W. Stock. She was born at Fish Haven, Idaho, 32 years ago and in 1904 she was married to Mr Hyrum Michaelson, their union being blessed with three children, one a sweet little girl of six years still surviving. Seven years ago they removed to this place where they have resided ever since. The deceased was ever a faithful Christian of an affectionate disposition, bright and winning in her ways so that friendship's circle was to her a large one. Indeed it may be said of her that "none knew her but to love her".
Funeral services were conducted under the auspices of the Bishopric at the Afton Ward Meeting House, Wednesday afternoon. Bishop Osborne Low, A.F. Burton, A.R. Moffett, Ben Nield and Wm. Hale spoke of the good womanly characteristics and the choir rendered several beautiful hymns. Many and beautiful were the floral tributes. Interment was made in the city cemetery.
The Independent joins with the entire community in extending heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved husband and family.
