Golah Clara Hopkins, 63, of Christiansburg, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2006 at New River Valley Medical Center.

She was born in Pulaski County on Sept. 22, 1943 to the late Governor Sheadrick and Julia Arnold Stigger.

She was also preceded in death by her hus­band, John Allen Hopkins; two brothers, Levi and Thomas Stigger; two sisters, Margaret James and Magdalene Twine; one grand­son Kieron Hopkins.

She is survived by her daughter, Julia Rosetta Baker, Christiansburg; son and daughter-in-law, John Sheadrick and Christy Hopkins, Christiansburg; sisters and brothers in law Olivia Casey Washington, DC, Bertha and Rev. Parson, Roanoke, Helen and Jerome Harvey, New River; brother and sister-in law, Governor and Lorretta Stigger, Dublin; three grandchildren, Dayten Hopkins, Oregon, Raymond Hopkins Christiansburg, Maurice Jackson, Christiansburg; three step-grandchildren, Stephanie Reynolds, Terry Reynolds and Tausha Reynolds, of Chicago; four great-grandchildren, Dayten Cordell Hopkins, Jr., Domonick Marcus Farrow, Alex Ortiz, Demetri Reynolds.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov., 1 at 2 p.m. in the Shaffer Memorial Baptist Church, Christiansburg, with the bishop David Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in the Shaffer Memorial Cemetery, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from noon until service time at Shaffer Memorial Baptist Church. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, Blacksburg.
