Per his obituary, Sgt Staudinger's family moved to Greensboro in 1960. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and recipient of the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart and Army Commendation Medal. His death occurred while stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, when he was struck by a car. He was only 21 years old.
