Hattie DeLon Bright was the daughter of Oswald Early Bright and his wife, Missouri A. Etheridge. She was born in what was then Princess Anne County, Virginia (now Virginia Beach city). She was married to Stanley R. Spence in 1926 in Princess Anne County, Virginia.

Hattie D. Spence, 90, a lifelong resident of Princess Anne County, Va., died Oct. 1, 1995, in Virginia Beach.
Mrs. Spence, the widow of Stanley R. Spence, was a retired farmer.
Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Morrison of Palm Harbor, Fla.; two sisters, Page Hartley and Elsie Hobbs, both of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Frank Jennings. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to Creeds Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad. "

"Married February 6, 1926 - Stanley R. Spence, single, and Hattie DeLon Bright, single - Stanley R. Spence, age 23, born in Princess Anne County, Virginia and residing in Munden [Princess Anne County], Virginia, occupation Merchant, son of J.W. Spence and his wife, Luna - Hattie DeLon Bright, age 21, born in Princess Anne County, Virginia and residing in Back Bay [Princess Anne County], Virginia, daughter of O.E. Bright and his wife, Missouri"
