Alfred R. Sorensen, 80, of Moline, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.

Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, and 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Moline. Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where Moline American Legion Post 246 will conduct military honors. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Church, Moline.

Alfred was born Oct. 27, 1926, in Lake Forrest, Ill., son of Alfred T. and Anna Hansen Sorensen. He married Mary Ellen Johnson Sept. 27, 1947, in Chicago.

Mr. Sorensen served in the Army during World War II. He retired after 35 years as a mail terminal supervisor for the Pennsylvania and Amtrak Railroad at Chicago Union Station.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen, and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Alfred.
