OBITUARY
--------
Dorcas M. Cunningham Smith was born in Adams county, Ohio, Dec. 14, 1828, died at Perry, Okla., Aug.8, 1913, aged 84 years, 7 months and 19 days.
The deceased was married to I.J.F. Smith in Iowa, April 26, 1866. In March 1895 they moved to Perry, Okla., where they have since resided. She had been confined to her bed for some time with a complication of diseases and although not thought to be in any immediate danger but it was no surprise to her numerous friends when the summons came and she passed peacefully away to her reward.
She had been a consistent and leading member and worker in the Presbyterian church for more than seventy years, a life member of the Womans Board of Home Missions and of the W.C.T.U. and actively identified in their work for many years past. All in all she was a woman whom to know was to admire and love for her many christian virtues and pleasing personality.
The aged husband is left alone to mourn her loss there having been no children born to this union, but their entire circle of friends and acquaintances mourn with him the loss of this noble christian woman and commend him for consolation to the Master in whom this lovely character had so long and faithfully served.
The funeral was held from the First Presbyterian church in this city Sunday afternoon. Rev. Duncan officiating, assisted by Rev. Poage of the M.E. church. The burial followed in Grace Hill cemetery and was attended by a large number of her true friends and admirers.
