Mrs. Vera V. Ault, 53, of 1710 N. Noland, Independence, died Monday (23 Jan 1978) at the home. She was a lifelong area resident. She was a member of the International Order of Foresters. She leaves her husband, James R. Ault of the home; two sons and a daughter, James R. Ault II, Douglas L. Ault, and Mrs. Virginia L. Mays, Independence; her father, Clarence E. Smith, 3218 Roberts, Kansas City, Missouri; three brothers, Clarence L. Smith, Kansas City; Donald E. Smith, Independence; and Steven L. Smith, Kansas City North; two sisters, Mrs. Doris E. Box and Mrs. Sammy J. Brown of Kansas City; and eight grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Carson Independence Chapel. Cremation. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Today at the chapel. The family requests no flowers and suggests contributions to Children's Mercy Hospital.
