Funeral services for Clarence Nite Smith, 51, of Van Alstyne were held Tuesday at Waldo Funeral Chapel. Rev. Elwood Coraine officiated. Burial was in Van Alstyne Cemetery. He died Monday at Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman. He was an employee of Sherman Manufacturing Company. He was born on January 20, 1905 near Kingston, Arkansas to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Lafayette "Dick" Smith. He moved to Van Alstyne when he was eight years old. Survivors include his wife, Beatrice; his brothers, James Samuel Smith, John William "Willie" Smith, and Roy Cecil Smith, all of Van Alstyne; and his half sister, Mary Barbara George of Celina.
