Mrs. Martha McCanless, 81, of Dyersburg, died Monday, October 22, 2012 at Bailey Park Community Living Center in Humboldt. She was a homemaker.

Funeral services for Mrs. McCanless will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2012 in the chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Adam Thompson and Cari Buchanan. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Wayne Thompson and wife, Shirley, of Humboldt and Danny Lynn Thompson and wife, Anita, of Newbern; one sister, Carolyn McDonald of Finley; three brothers, Hershell Simpson of Finley, Bill Simpson of Covington, and Benny Simpson of South Carolina; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy McCanless; her parents, Hershell and Rebbie Hill Simpson; one son, Eddie Thompson; two sisters, Glenda Patterson and Mary Hudson; and two brothers, Charles Simpson and Ray Simpson.

Pallbearers will be Billy Daniels, Ricky Daniels, Randy Carlisle, Art McDonald, Stenson Hughes, and Gregg Thompson.
