A.G. (Ade) Sieberts, 74, All-American basketball player in 1916 and president and manager of the former Edwards Furniture Co., died Sunday after a long illness.
Born in Portland Aug. 29, 1893, Mr. Sieberts was an All American at Oregon State University. He was graduated in 1917 and after serving in World War I joined the Edwards Co. in 1920.

In 1924, he was named vice president and soon became president and manager when Thomas Edwards retired. In 1961, after Mr. Sieberts became ill, the Edwards Co. building at SW Oak Street and 5th Avenue was sold to Portland Federal Savings and Loan Association and the inventory was bought by Director’s Furniture Store.

Mr. Sieberts, who lived at 1158 Bayberry Rd., Lake Oswego, for many years, was active in Multnomah Club, Waverley Country Club, Lake Oswego Country Club. Greatly interested in sports all his life, he was a member of many sports organizations and a founder of the 100 Per Cent Club.

Mr. Sieberts is survived by his wife, Erma; sons, Ned A., Portland, and William L., San Francisco; brothers, William, Portland and Conrad, Phoenix; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Private memorial service will be Wednesday at Finley’s Downtown Mortuary.
