Novella Barnes

Novella Barnes, age 86 of Whitney, Texas died September 25, 1995 at a local nursing home. Funeral services were Wednesday, September 27, 1995 at the Marshall and Marshall Chapel in Whitney, Texas with Rev. Bobby Booth officiating.

Mrs. Barnes was born September 30, 1908 in Whitney, Texas. She was the daughter of Joseph William and Sarah Jane (Caughron) Shelley. She lived in Whitney all her life. She taught school for a while in the old Stiener Valley School. She married Jefferson Davis Barnes on November 25, 1928. He preceded her in death December 22, 1988. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. She was a member of the Eastern Star for many yeaars and also the Rebecca's. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Barnes is survived by one son, W.D. Barnes and wife Joyce of Pasadena, Texas, one brother, Roland Shelley of Whitney; three grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and numberous nieces and nephews.
