Julia Melissa Rushing Clontz, 86, of 7111 Alexander Farm Road, Monroe, died June 9, 2010 at her home.

Born October 7, 1923 in Union County, she was a daughter of the late John Worley Rushing and the late Carrie Odell Rushing Rushing.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Archie Lee Clontz.

She is survived by sons, Alval Lane Rushing and wife Willie and John Clontz and wife Gay; daughters, Sonia Haigler and Tonia Merritt and husband Mike all of Monroe; brother, John A. Rushing of Monroe; sisters, Ann Stroupe of Monroe, Clara Troutman of Statesville and Delane Mullis of Monroe; 21 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

She worked as a supervisor for Comar Industrial, Monroe.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 at Hartsell Funeral Home,Midland. At other times they will meet at the home. Funeral service will be Saturday at 2 pm with a 30 minute state, at Antioch Baptist Church. Rev. George Gouge will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County or the charity of one's choice.
