He was a graduate of Royerton High School and attended Porter College, Indianapolis, and the University of Tennessee. A self-employed carpenter and general contractor, he was an Army veteran and served eight years in the National Guard.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Pernie Rogers, Muncie; one daughter, Gabriel Rogers, Oak Ridge, Tenn.; two brothers, Everet, Lenore City, Tenn., and Maurice, Matthews, Ind.; two sisters, Mrs. Doris Bryant and Mrs. Joyce Mills, both of Muncie; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Mary Holmes, Amarillo, Tex.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Parkview Apostolic Church, Muncie, with Rev. Richard Martin officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory. Friends may call at Parson Mortuary 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and for one hour prior to services at the church.
