Isabelle was the daughter of David Robinson and Jessie Isabel Ramsay of Scotland as stated in her Certificate of Death. Her obituary says that she was born 17 March 1844 in Edinburgh, Scotland, and had lived in the U. S. and New York City for 61 years. Isabelle married Alonzo Ameli, 28 November 1864 and they settled in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn and became the parents of six known children: Eugene Alonzo born 1865, Walter born 1866, Oscar born 1869, Mary Jane born 1873, Elizabeth Celestia born 1874 and Howard Wilmurt born 1879. As if caring for a large family wasn't enough, in June of 1898, Jessie purchased the Brooklyn cottage, on the corner of Surf and Central avenues in Ocean Grove, New Jersey, and became the proprietor of "the Brooklyn", a very successful hotel where she and Alonzo spent many of their summers. She was also a member of the Greenpoint M. E. Tabernacle for 40 years and for 12 years a member of the board of managers of the M. E. Home for the Aged. Isabelle was also active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the M. E. Hospital. She passed away 28 April 1908 at her home, 1422 Pacific street, Brooklyn. Alonzo's obituary states that when Isabelle died it "was the beginning of the end" for him and his physical decline was noted from that time. Their son, Howard, graduated from Princeton University in 1903 and became a U. S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York where he served from 1929 to 1934.
