Daughter of Virgil Reed, b.8 Jul 1894 in Delaney, Washington County, AR & d.29 Jun 1968 and Marie Rosina (Stab) Reed b.12 Jun 1899 in Lawrenceville, Allegheny, PA & d.11 Mar 1986 in Tulsa, Tulsa County, OK and who were married on 4 Jun 1922 in Tulsa, Tulsa County, OK.

Margaret was the 2nd daughter/child of 6 children.

She began her career working for Oklahoma Gas Co. in Tulsa, OK, working in the accounting dept, after graduating from high school. She was very involved in the USO during WWII and that is where she met her husband, Robert Lee Akins, of 38 years. They married, after he returned from service with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific, on 11 Jan 1947. They always loved dancing and could slide across a dance floor with graceful expertise.

Margaret, later in years, worked as Personnel Supervisor in Amory, MS with a company called Cramco Inc., who made OEM metal parts for Ford Motor Co. She received a distinquished award from the American Legion for hiring disabled and handicapped war veterans, for which she was very proud.

I might note, that Margaret was working to help put her kids through college, for which she was successful.

Many of Margaret's friends will remember her as being an expert bridge player which was her passion and which she played every chance she had.

Margaret born and raised 3 grateful children successfully, and who are still living.
