Doris Burgin, 76, died Tuesday, November 23, 1999 at Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born May 21, 1923 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Cecil Davis and Lena Bunton Ransdell. She was a homemaker and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church and WMU. She served in the Navy Waves during World War II. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She was a Kentucky Colonel and a charter and lifetime member of the Ebenezer Homemaker Club. She was a member of the North Mercer Concerned Citizens, and of the Light and Lively Group at the Harrodsburg Baptist Church. Survivors include: her husband, Preston Burgin, Harrodsburg; one son, James Davis Lawson, Frankfort; one daughter, Mrs. Joe (Joy) Stevens, Harrodsburg; two brothers, C. D. Ransdell Jr., and Earl Franklin Ransdell, both of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Eva Mae Hahn, Frankfort, and Mary Crossfield, Harrodsburg; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Ann Lawson; two brothers, A. L. "Sammy" and Herbert Ransdell; one grandson, Gabriel Schooler. Funeral services were held Friday, November 26, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Robert DeFoor and David Hartman officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
