GARDINER -- J. Dave Pushard, 73, of Marston Road passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2006, at the veterans affairs medical center, Togus.

He was born in Gardiner on March 17, 1932, a son of Violet Grady Weymouth.

Dave had been a heavy-equipment operator in the construction field for many years. He had helped to construct many roads in northern and southern Maine.

He had been employed for 10 years for the city of Gardiner and, before his illness, had been employed at Sam Snow Construction.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, receiving a Bronze Service Star. After the war, he served on the presidential honor guard.

Dave loved hunting and sports, especially baseball. He pitched on many town baseball teams in the area. He coached Little League in 1968, and his team placed second in the state of Maine.

He was a member of the American Legion Smith Wiley Post 4, Gardiner, and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was predeceased by a son, Brian Pushard, on Dec. 26, 1984.
